Martin Garden Center appreciates our loyal customers and offers a loyalty program that provides 2.5% cash back for qualified customers. For larger purchases, it is the policy of Martin Garden Center to offer 5% off same-day purchases over $500 and 10% off same-day purchases greater than $1000. Purchases are valued before tax.
In the past, Martin Garden Center has awarded, on a case-by-case basis, discounts to landscapers and designers. Many of these discounts were in place prior to the new ownership in 2015. Discounts prior to and since 2015 have been awarded qualitatively versus quantitatively, in most cases, because there was no means to track customer purchases. With its POS system upgrade in 2021, we began accumulating data to track customer purchases. During the month of October 2023, Martin Garden Center staff evaluated customer spending over the last two years. And, based on our findings, we developed guidelines, effective immediately, for the award of discounts as follows:
- Corporate discounts of 20% apply to landscape/design customers who have purchased $5K per year with us over the past 2 years
- Corporate discounts of 20% may also apply to landscape/design customers who are newly formed but who plan to spend at least $5K per year with us in the coming years
- Landscaper/Designer discounts of 10% apply to landscape/design customers who have purchased $2K per year with us over the past 2 years
- Landscaper/Designer discounts of 10% may also apply to landscape/design customers who are newly formed but who plan to spend $2K/year or more with us over the next 2 years.
All landscaping and design clients who do not meet these criteria will no longer receive discounts but will be eligible for 2.5% cash back via our loyalty program. Note that at the request of our landscape and design clients, we will evaluate your purchasing habits to determine if additional discounts are appropriate. These evaluations may take several days to complete and require the completion of our Discount Request Form. In the future, Martin Garden Center plans to evaluate its discounts on a biennial basis during July and January to determinate the suitability of continuing discounts.
The award of discounts is solely at the discretion of Martin Garden Center. While we plan to follow a consistent quantitative method when awarding discounts, regardless of how much you spend, we can and will withhold discounts for the following:
- Making excessive demands on our staff
- Mental, verbal or physical abuse of our staff
- Physical abuse of our plants or facilities
- Rude and/or entitled behavior with regards to receiving a discount
- Negative comments made verbally, in written form, or posted on social media platforms about our staff and/or our organization
- Failure to provide a valid e-mail as part of our loyalty program
- Blocking or reporting our e-mails as spam
- Abusing our special-order process
- Allowing others outside of your organization to use your discount or allowing employees to use your organization’s discount for their personal use
- Making false statements and representations, thievery and other behavior deemed unethical
- Parking in non-parking areas and bringing in large trailers that cannot be accommodated by our limited parking spaces, particularly during excessively busy periods
- Soliciting customers while at Martin Garden Center
- Other behavior we deem detrimental to our business.
