There are numerous types of lilies that add beauty to a perennial garden – Asiatic, Oriental, tiny Pot Lilies, Rose Lilies, larger Pot Lilies, Tiger Lilies and some just classified as “Specialty Lilies.” Yellow, orange, pink, white, red, magenta, burgundy, and multi-color. Singles, double, triples, upward, downward and contorted. All make amazing cut flowers (remove the stamens to avoid daily cleanup).
Each year, we have a lily bulb sale and those lilies not sold are potted up into 6″ or 1-gallon containers for sale. Note that you must be on our mailing list in order to receive notification of our Lily Bulb Sale.
Two limitations with Lilies … first, they are toxic if eaten. Second, Lilies are generally easy to care for, but they do have one pest … Aphids. Watch closely around bloom time for signs of Aphids and treat organically with Bonide’s Insecticidal Soap. You can also hit them with a double whammy and combine with Bonides’ Neem Oil. As with all Aphid infestations, it is important to reapply within 7 days.
